Even though some people turn their noses up at that green stuff called spinach, it’s a super food and we should eat more of it. As dancers we need food to fuel our body’s, so they are able to do what we ask them to do physically. Why not include a food loaded with nutrients and antioxidants? Why not make a food a staple in our diet that benefits our eyes, oxidation, prevents disease and lowers blood pressure levels? A food rich in vitamins A, C, K1, folic acid, iron and calcium? If you can’t down the stuff plain, we thought we’d share a recipe that adds spinach to this already healthy smoothie option and take it over the top! Plus, it’s March, it felt appropriate to do a recipe that was green! Enjoy the green stuff!
Blueberry Spinach Smoothie
2/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 ripe banana
2/3cup frozen blueberries
2 large frozen strawberries
1 cup spinach leaves
1/2 cup milk of choice (dairy, coconut, soy, almond)
1 teaspoons protein powder (optional)
1 tablespoon of honey, or to taste
Add all of the ingredients to a blender, cover with the lid, and whirl until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach the desired consistency and taste for sweetness, adjusting as necessary. Pour into two glasses and enjoy promptly.
